 Gartner的研究数据一直是IT业界最重要的风向标之一。最近，Gartner分析师指出尽管今年全球PC出货量将下滑11.9%，但netbooks的销量有望暴涨80%之多。

这样一来，为了保证在netbooks市场的占有率，微软就不得不以较低的折扣价向各大OEM厂商提供WIndows XP了。尽管还没有确切的数字，但“华尔街邮报”称此价格将低于15美元，比Vista机器低了近1/3。

此外，微软还表示，Windows 7 Starter版本很有可能会预装在高端netbooks上，如果用户对当前版本不满意，可以通过购买高级版本授权的方式进行升级。不过PC厂商如Acer已经看到了Windows 7 Starter3个程序限制对销售的阻碍，他们对此并不看好。

Acer称目前暂无计划是否会在netbooks上预装Windows 7，但他们表示会很慎重，因为netbooks的特点就在于低价，预装Windows 7的话售价势必就会抬高，再加上XP只需不到15美元，Windows 7 netbook的销售也许将会十分艰难。
