 目前，随着Windows 7 Beta的发布，有关Windows 7正式版到底何时会上市的传言也是四起。来自CNET的朋友引用了微软主管比尔-维特的话称无法保证Windows 7能在年内发布，因为必须要保证其质量。

而来自ZDnet的同僚则认为Windows 7正式版至少要到2010年才能上市，他还建议用户跳过Windows 7 Beta。

其实，比尔-维特在公开场合说那些话是有目的的，主要是针对测试者而言。他必须要这么说，否则大家都认为WIndows 7已经很好了（微软主管都这么说了），那么测试者们也就不会集中注意力去发现bug了。

事实上，Windows 7将在8月1日前发售，在Windows Beta的发布页面（http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/dd353205.aspx）上已经有了这样的陈述：

When the Beta expires on August 1, 2009, you’ll need to reinstall a released version of Windows to keep using your computer.（当Windows 7 Beta 在8月1日到期时，用户必须重新安装新版本才能继续使用。）

另外，前几天公布的Vista-→Windows 7 升级计划也表明会从7月1日开始。而此前微软在2006年10月24日公布Vista升级计划后的2周，Vista就发售了。

也就是说，微软很有可能会在7月1日到8月1日之间的某个时候正式发售Windows 7。
