 一般而言，当谈到Vista的问题时，兼容性总归是被放在前几位的，所以，不难理解为什么Windows 7的开发团队会花这么大的心思在解决第三方软件的兼容性问题上。

举个简单的例子，Vista刚发布时，Nvidia的驱动开发未能跟的上，导致很多游戏玩家不得不放弃Vista。而这次，就在Windows 7 RC发布后两天，Nvidia就放出了一款支持Windows 7的驱动。此前，ATI也率先提供了Windows 7支持。

可以看出，微软这次是真的做得很好了。再举个例子，本周Windows 官方博客曾发表文章称用户可能会在Action Center中看到部分软件的兼容性问题报告。微软称这是由于部门厂商未能及时跟进导致的。

此外，Windows 7的Professional和Ulimate版本中还提供了Med-V和XP模式用于解决极端的兼容性问题，尽管并非所有版本Windows 7用户都能享有此功能，但也同样也并非所有用户都需要/想要此功能。
