 作为Windows 7的服务器版本，Windows Server 2008 R2的关注度远远不如个人客户端版的Windows 7。但是考虑到Windows Server 2008的性能要高于Vista，对Windows Server 2008 R2的测试也就显得有必要了。

其实对于处于开发阶段的系统而言，微软是禁止第三方进行测试的，但好在目前Windows 7和Windows Server 2008 R2都已经完成RTM，Principled Technologies日前就将其与Windows Server 2008放在了一起，进行了对比测试。

Principled Technologies分别在两台Harpertown and和Nehalem服务器上测试了Windows Server的多个版本，同时，着重测试了多任务负载下的虚拟。结果显示，Windows Server 2008 R2的平均性能要高出37%左右。

测试主要用于找出Windows Server 2008 R2在Intel Xeon E5450和X5570上Hyper-V的性能改进。结果完全没有让人失望。
